Overview

With general direction from the Terminal Manager & Director of Maintenance, provides a wide range of supervision to maintenance staff members regarding technical services on company buses, vans, and automobiles. This is a Management position that requires significant supervisory skills and experience.

 

This hands-on Manager would be responsible for coordination, scheduling and auditing of maintenance repairs to include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair to buses/vans/automobiles. Additionally, the supervisor role also functions as a mechanic.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage day to day operations for multiple maintenance terminals

 

 

  • Work directly with technicians to encourage a safe and quality-driven environment

 

 

  • Coach/Mentor/Develop Maintenance Staff Members

 

 

  • Monitor work levels

 

 

  • Fleet maintenance management and repair expense management – identifying areas for improvement and reinforce policies and procedures

 

 

  • Facility management – assuring a clean and safe working environment

 

 

  • May, on occasion, be required to drive to multiple terminals (shuttle, road test, etc).

 

 

  • Emergency conditions may require calls at home, extended hours, or weekend work.

 

 

  • Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenance. Understands OSHA standards and provisions.

 

 

  • Understands and conforms to State EPA regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste substances.

 

 

  • Performs other duties as required.

 

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses.

 

 

  • Minimum of two (2) years technical work experience required as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

  • Minimum of three(3) years industry related supervisory work experience required

 

 

  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and the ability to work independently

 

 

  • Candidate must possess proven managerial skills, knowledge of execution of performance management process and basic understanding of business

 

 

  • Ability to safely lift over 50 lbs.

 

 

  • Ensure a safe and productive operation through proper implementation and administration of company policies and procedures.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.

 

 

  • Written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills are essential. Ability to deal with problems and find solutions.

 

 

  • Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations.

 

 

  • Knowledge of excel, word and pc skills.

 

 

  • Operational knowledge of motorized gasoline, diesel and alternative fueled vehicles, and shop equipment and tools.

 

 

  • Scheduling and setting priorities for work to be accomplished.

 

 

  • Inspection of equipment and diagnose mechanical defects.

 

 

  • ASE Certification(s) a plus
